Galerie Place Ville Marie, a shopping center located in downtown Montreal, welcomes an average of nearly 1 million people every month. A captive clientele combined with lucrative sales per square foot, explains why Place Ville Marie is sought after by many merchants eager for a wealth of business opportunities. The Shopping Promenade is like no other, housing an array of nearly 80 upscale shops and boutiques, as well as a food court that groups 20 of the better known fast food restaurants.

SITQ, the Place Ville Marie complexe operator, is a leader in the North American and Western European real estate industries. Founded by the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec with invested capital of $9 million, SITQ today holds a $10.3-billion, property portfolio, comprised mainly of prestigious office buildings and business parks located in major cities in Canada, the United States, France, the United Kingdom and Germany. Together, these properties represent over 35 million square feet (3.3 million square meters) of space.

Project Scope:

SITQ was searching for a novel and flexible way to inform shoppers and the general public entering Place Ville Marie via the new entrance on Cathcart and University streets. The information being displayed would have to be presented in an eye-catching way to its business-class clientele and would consist primarily of upcoming events, new promotions, new services and contests that could change on a daily basis. In the future, SITQ also wanted the ability to offer advertising space to tenants as a value added service.

Mirada Media Solution:

Mirada Media Inc. responded to SITQ's needs with an integrated digital signage solution composed of its ChannelView software and system along with a NEC 57 inch LCD display panel, displaying captivating and dynamic High-definition content. These components made Place Ville Marie the first establishment in Quebec to use such a large LCD panel for digital information distribution. Mirada Media Inc. was mandated to provide turnkey management of SITQ's new digital signage network. Elements such as content scheduling, network programming and management, as well as hardware monitoring and support are all performed via the ChannelView system from Mirada Media's office in Anjou. This setup allows SITQ to change the dynamic content on the screen as often as they like without the added expense of sending someone on site to change a static sign. The ChannelView system offers a digital platform for dynamic content distribution (video, Flash, etc.) and live information sources (news, weather, etc. from RSS feeds) which are updated instantaneously. This unparalleled flexibility is a key factor in the increasing adoption of dynamic digital signage in every marketplace - from retail to corporate to educational environments, and more.

Alberta Health Services was looking to install a digital menu board system at their Healthy Choice Trendz™ café at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute with the main goals of reducing costs, creating an engaging customer experience and promoting healthy eating habits.

Mirada Media Inc. addressed the needs of Alberta Health Services with an integrated digital menu board solution composed of our Channelview system, a commercial grade media appliance preloaded and configured with the CV Player software along with three 40" commercial LCD monitors by Samsung, displaying menus and dynamic HD content. This system allows full control of the content as well as the screens, from our office in Anjou.

The system also includes the MenuView content management system. This CMS allows to update food items and pricing, change featured items and manage your dayparts.

The health services provider had much success replacing the traditional hospital cafeteria food with healthier fare under the Healthy Trendz brand and wanted to bolster their efforts with their menu boards. A portion of the three-screen menu system is dedicated to providing this 'engaging' experience by featuring a loop of animated tips, promoting a healthy lifestyle and better eating habits like low-sodium foods and meals containing whole grains.

Centre Medical Lacordaire

Company Overview:

Opened since 2000, Le Centre Médical Lacordaire is a public clinic located in St-Leonard at 5650 Jean-Talon, corner Lacordaire, Suite 201. Le CML offers several medical and paramedical services including cardiology, gynaecology, urology, endocrinology, andrology, pneumology, paediatrics, as well as nutrition consulting and many other services.

Project Scope:

Le CML was looking for a novel way to inform patients and keep them entertained while sitting in their multiple waiting rooms. As medical professionals, the clinic employees have the responsibility to disseminate health advisories and to promote information on important health issues. An added bonus for them would be if the clinic’s partners could publicize their health-related products and services. The information needed to be displayed in an eye-catching and would consist primarily of their services, health notices, general information and entertainment.

Mirada Media's Solution:

Mirada Media Inc. addressed Le CML's needs with an integrated digital signage solution composed of our Channelview system, a commercial grade media appliance preloaded and configured with their CV Player software along with two 40" commercial LCD monitors by Samsung, displaying captivating and dynamic HD content. It also allows the flexibility to add new players easily, another of CML's prerequisites since the clinic would soon be expanding and opening a new private health service in the same medical complex.

Company Overview:

Located on Sherbrooke Street in downtown Montreal, Rotinis Resto-Bar offers casual Italian dining. Connected to the restaurant, clients can find an intimate lounge area to enjoy a few drinks and watch sport events. Rotinis is also the hotel Marriott Courtyard’s onsite dinning room and bar. This restaurant was recently purchased by new owners. Open for breakfast, lunch and diner. During the warmer seasons, an out-door terrace is also available.

Project Scope:

The young entrepreneurs that purchased Rotinis Resto-Bar needed a novel way to promote their new investment. They knew they wouldn't have much trouble getting patrons in the seats on Sunday mornings due to the reknowned brunch of the hotel chain they're located in but, to truly be successful, they needed to attract hotel guests for lunch, dinner and evening drinks at the bar too.

Inspired by recent installations at national food chains and franchises, the owners decided that digital signage at their entrance in the hotel lobby would be the way to go if they wanted to direct traffic into the restaurant, promote their speciality dishes, catering and room service, and invite patrons to "take a load off their feet" in their bar lounge and catch a sporting event on TV. They wouldn't have a lot of capital to invest due to the recent purchase and time to manage the system wouldn't be available either because dealing with suppliers and the day-to-day of the restaurant business would take it all.

NP – Centre d’Esthétique Dentaire

Company Overview:

Located in Kirkland (West Island Montreal), Le Centre d’Esthétique dentaire is a state-of-the-art dental clinic. It is equipped with the most recent technologies like intra-oral cameras and digital X-rays, allowing the staff to show patients the areas of concern on computer displays. It’s also the first dental practice in Quebec to own the Galileos, a CT-Scan that provides 3D imaging of the head and jaws. This systems gives them the possibility to plan in advance with virtual surgeries, reducing potential anatomic complications and thus, the length of the recoveries for the patients. These technologies are backed by doctors that have gone through extensive training in cosmetic and dental implantology, focusing on family practice. To top off its first-class dentistry, the clinic caters to the needs of its clients with an espresso machine and a juice bar.

Project Scope:

The dental center was searching for a novel and flexible way to inform and entertain clients both in the clinic’s lobby and patient rooms. They wanted the ability to display information such as news and weather; showcase the variety of dental services available at the clinic, have the ability to offer advertising space to community and charitable organizations, and add a cutting edge aspect to the clinic’s already pleasant atmosphere. A digital signage system would meet all those criteria but time was an issue; the dentists and techinicians needed to stick to what they do best—their patients' teeth.

Company Overview:

PharmaWeb Canada (PWC) is a health care product and services company currently active in the Canadian Prescription Medication Industry. The company coordinates a network of pharmacies across the globe and its main goal for the last two years has been to provide American and International clients access to low cost Canadian and International prescription medications.

Project Scope:

PWC determined that they needed an additional training vehicle to communicate to its employees in a timely, reliable and effective manner.  Employees needed to be kept abreast of company operations, news and events related to the business.  Additionally, they needed to be aware of employee benefits and related H.R. information, as well as local news, events and community relations activities.

PWC wanted a high-tech and eye-catching medium to communicate to employees. The delivery tool also had to be user-friendly and efficient so that the information was always easy to maintain and timely.

Working with Mirada Media, PWC made the decision to install a 42" LCD screen at their head office in Montreal.  The LCD screen connects to a PC over the corporate network, so unique messages can be delivered to the location within the building from a single point within seconds. PWC also wanted to use the screen as a video conferencing tool in order to be able to effectively communicate with their numerous partners and suppliers.
